Product Description - Million Hearts
Dischidia is a genus of about 80 species of trailing-scandent, epyphytic herbaceous perennials. They are native to Western Asia and the Western Pacific. As myrmecophilous, or ant-loving plants, several dischidias are particularly intriguing. Ants inhabit the inflated, often hollow leaves, using them as nurseries for their young and as garbage dumps. The plants benefit from the ants' carbon dioxide and waste products. Dischidias also bear small flowers. The variety is excellent in a terrarium.Plant Care
Grow in an epiphytic bromeliad mix in bright but filtered light. Keep the plant pot-bound. The minimum temperate that Dischidias need to survive is 55 degrees. Water freely, mist frequently, foliar-fertilize for optimum growth. Take semi-ripe cuttings and grow in a shaded, closed case with gentle bottom heat, or propagate using the layering technique.0 Comment
