Product Description - Banana
Crotons come in more than 100 varieties. Leaf colors include yellow, green, copper, red, pink, orange, brown and ivory, which may spread over the whole leaf or appear as veining, spots, blotches or other patterns. Leaf shapes also vary: they may be slender and up to 18 inches long, flat and up to 6 inches wide, lobed, ribbed, crinkled or twisted into corkscrew shapes. Crotons grow fast; plants less than 12 inches tall may become bushy 3 to 5 foot shrubs within two or three years if not pruned.Plant Care
Crotons grow best where they get four or more hours a day of morning or afternoon direct or semi-direct sunlight, but they grow fairly well in bright indirect light, such as that reflected from light walls. Night temperatures of 65 to 70 degrees and day temperatures of 75 to 85 degrees are ideal. Keep the soil barely moist at all times. Feed crotons every two months from early spring through fall and do not fertilize them the rest of the year. Do not fertilize newly potted plants for two months. Repot overcrowded plants in early spring using packaged general-purpose potting soil and propagate in spring or summer from stem cuttings or by the method known as air layering. To encourage dense growth, prune overgrown plants in early spring. Watch for spider mites and mealy bugs.3 comments
