AGLAONEMA
Light:LOW LIGHT
Plant Care:
Aglaonemas can be grown in any degree of lighting, from full-light rooms (filtered - never direct sunlight) to the darkest room of the home. Of course, higher amounts of light will yield a more vibrant leaf color. If only low light is available, aglaonemas are an ideal choice. Moreover, they can be easily grown together with other plants in the same pot. Night temperatures of 65° to 70° and day temperatures of 75° to 85° are ideal. Keep the soil barely moist at all times. Wait four to six months before feeding newly purchased or newly potted plants; once established, plants should be fed at four-month intervals with 20-20-20 fertilizer. Repot overcrowded plants at any season, using packaged general-purpose potting soil. Propagate at any season from stem cuttings, from sections of main stems or by the method known as air layering. Aglaonemas are generally pest free. Although this is an indoor plant, in warm climates it can be cultivated outdoors as long as its kept in a shaded area, preferably facing north.
Facts:
Aglaonema varieties are characterized by their robust growth habits and very durable nature, making them ideal indoor plants. They are very resistant to disease and they can be easily adapted to different conditions. These traits make Aglaonemas easy to care for, and as a result, make it a very popular house plant variety. Aglaonemas grow up to 3 feet tall, with a spread equal to their height, and they bear stems that are crowded with thick, leathery leaves 10 to 12 inches long and 4 to 5 inches wide. The leaves look as if they are brushed with gray, except for their edges and ribs, which are a soft green.
