Our International Exchange Student Program
Hermann Engelmann himself first came to the United States as an exchange student in 1956. It was an experience that changed his life and made our company.
To ensure that same opportunity is available to others, we began our own foreign exchange training program in 1980. What started with one student a year has blossomed into an average class of 25 students at any one time.

All of our exchange students have or are working on degrees in agriculture or horticulture. The average student stay is between 6 and 18 months. The program allows young people from all over the world to gain practical experience in the area of horticulture, learn about the newest growing techniques and experience the American lifestyle. Most beneficial of all, students from a wide array of cultures connect through their similar interests in horticulture.
At the end of every work week, the students can take off and explore their surroundings, including nearby Disney World, Sea World, Universal Studios and Florida’s sunny beaches.
Students pay their own transportation to and from the United States. We provide them with housing, free utilities and fair wages. Currently, we are host to 26 students in 7 houses located near our 8 production locations. For more information on our program and to apply, students can contact their school or representative organization in their country.
